An Open Letter to ESPN

September 26th, 2008 admin No comments

Dear ESPN,

Please remind me again where your headquarters are located???

Oh yes, now I remember.  Quaint Bristol Connecticut.

But even despite that wonderful location I don’t expect you to fawn over the University of Connecticut simply because they play only 20 miles away.

But what I do expect is respect for 2 BCS teams, particularly one that shared in a conference championship last year.   While the leading rusher in the nation is driving down the field against the #2 run defense, gaining nearly 10 yards a clip, what exactly is being discussed by your color announcers???  Oh yes, they are talking to another coach about a game that happened the night before.

Now I realize that the #1 team in the country getting beaten by an unranked team is a big deal.  But in this day of nearly non stop sports coverage, haven’t you talked about it enough?

You had the late sportscenter last night, the morning sporstcenter, the evening sportscenter, 2 different airing of College Football live, Sportscenter again tonight, College Gameday tomorrow.

Did you really need to insult two teams, by diverting attention from the events on the field for a phone interview?

I guess a match up of the Leading Rusher, the #2 run defense, in a game that had so much “intrigue” because of a play that you seemed to want to play over and over and over, just couldn’t hold the interest of your fickle viewers.

Its enough that you seem to think that your college centric network should be called ESPNUConn, seeing as UConn has already played 2 games this year on the U, as well as the four times last year, despite the fact that it can be seen in less than 50% of the homes in the very state you broadcast from.

But when you finally see it worthwhile to demean you network enough to show the lowly UConn football team, please actually show the game.

Its a measure of respect I bet you afford others, and I think that at 5-0 UConn Football has earned at least that much respect as well

Temple, The Definitive Answer

September 5th, 2008 Jared 2 comments

So with tomorrow’s game between Temple and UConn there is talk (by everyone except the coaches and teams) about Temple’s search for “Justice”.  If you are reading this, I’m guessing you seen the commercial with the dramatic music, and the Temple radio announcers up in arms,  made by Temple’s marketing gurus.  But one thing that video leaves out is why exactly that call wasn’t overturned,  Lack of conclusive video evidence.  Santini35.com once and for all wants to answer the question… Does Temple actually deserve Justice?
